The 9-hole rear sprocket can depend if you want to go fast or if you need more power. The larger the tooth sprocket the less speed you will get but the more torque/power you will have, so riding over any steep hills will be much easier. The smaller the tooth sprocket the faster you will go, but the less torque/power, so riding over hills with the smaller tooth sprocket will be difficult.
